How to Use a Wedding Website QR Code on Your Invitations

· 5 min read

Where to place it, how big to print it, and the checks to make before your stationery goes to print.

Why add a QR code

A QR code lets guests open your wedding website by pointing their phone camera at the invitation — no typing a web address. It is especially helpful for older guests and for long or unusual addresses.

Confirm your final web address first

A QR code simply points to a web address, so the address must be final before anything is printed. If you plan to use a personalised domain, set it up first and generate the code from that address.

Placement and size

Most couples place the code on an information or details card, or on the back of the main invitation, so it does not compete with the design. Leave clear space around it and print it large enough to scan comfortably — your stationer can advise on the minimum size for your card.

Strong contrast between the code and the background matters more than colour. A dark code on a light card scans most reliably.

Test before you print

Before approving your stationery proof:

  • Scan the printed proof with several different phones
  • Check it opens the correct page on mobile
  • Include the web address in text beneath the code, as a fallback

Keep the link working

Guests may scan the code months after receiving it, so keep the website live until well after the wedding — many couples leave it up afterwards to share photos.
